South Coast of Iceland
The South Coast has some of the most beautiful sights to offer in Iceland. We will start to see one of the volcanos near Reykjavik, the area of Krísuvik, where Icelandic volcanism is visible in the form of hot springs and boiling mud. Then we will drive suðurstandaveg and see small miracle church on the way and drive through small fishing villages, then after tasting hot dogs in Selfoss, from there we will see the most active volcanos in Iceland, Hekla and Hvannadalshnúkur we'll head to Seljalandsfoss. This is one of the only waterfalls where you can go behind and walk all around it. We'll continue to Skógarfoss, another waterfall, but a very different sight nonetheless, on the way is a small museum about the last eruption from the glacier Hvannadalshnúkur. The little town of Skógar also has a quaint little museum with information on the daily life of Icelanders in earlier years, where we can drop by for a visit.
Next stop is Dyrhólaey, a magnificent rock formation by the sea. From there, if you’re in the right season, you’ll have the chance to see the puffins.
To finish this beautiful day, we’ll head to Vík, a charming little town by the sea with black sandy beaches where we’ll take a little walk before driving back to Reykjavík.
